The course which is available on the Membership Portal looks like below. We encourage trainees to go through the well-done recorded videos before coming to the Live session so that they can come prepared with their doubts & can clear the doubts during the session to make it more Interactive.

AWS Solution Architect Training Day 4 & Day 5 FAQ's

[Q/A] Related to Object Storage Options

Q1. What are the different types of object storage options available on AWS?
Ans. The different options available are:

  • Block Storage
  • File Storage
  • Object
  • Cloud Data Migration

Q2. What is the limit of creating a bucket?
Ans. You can create up to 100 buckets in each of your AWS accounts, by default. If you require more buckets, you can expand your account bucket limit to a maximum of 1,000 buckets by submitting a service limit increase.

Q3. What is the AWS Storage class?
Ans. Amazon S3 storage classes are designed to sustain the concurrent loss of data in one or two facilities. S3 storage classes permit lifecycle management for automatic migration of objects for cost savings.

Storage ClassesQ4. Is AWS S3 bucket region-specific?
Ans. Yes, the buckets are region specific and you can find the region when you are creating a bucket. It will be in your current location of your AWS by default. You can change it to the region you want.

Q5. Is S3 replication done in real-time?
Ans. Most of the objects will be replicated within seconds. 99% of the objects will be replicated within 5 minutes. 99.99% of the objects will be replicated within 15 minutes.

Q6. Does IAM users will ever have read/write access to our S3 Bucket?
Ans. Yes, the IAM user will have read/write access to your bucket if you allow the S3FullAccess policy to the IAM user.

Q7. How does CloudFront caching work?
Ans. With CloudFront caching, more objects are served from CloudFront edge locations, which are closer to your end-users. This decreases the load on your origin server and reduces latency. You can view the rate of viewer requests that are hits, misses, and errors in the CloudFront console.

Q8. What is the difference between EFS, EBS, and S3?
Ans.
The differences are:

Ans. You can use AWS KMS master keys to automatically control the encryption of the data stored within services integrated with AWS KMS such as Amazon EBS and Amazon S3. AWS KMS gives you unified power over the encryption keys used to secure your data.

Q10. How is the snowball connected to your network?
Ans. Choose one of your RJ45, SFP+, or QSFP+ network cables, and plug the device into your network. The network ports are on the rear of the device. Power on the AWS Snowball Edge device by pressing the power button over the LCD display.

AWS SnowballQ11. What are the types of storage gateway?
Ans.
There are three types of storage gateway

  • File Gateway (NFS)
  • Volume Gateway (iSCSI)
  • Tape Gateway (VTL)

Types of storage gateway
Q12. What is S3 Cross-Region Replication?
Ans. Cross-Region Replication is an Amazon S3 feature that consequently replicates every object uploaded to an S3 bucket to a destination bucket in another AWS Region that you choose. S3 object tags are key-value pairs applied to S3 objects that permit you to better organize, secure, and manage your data stored in S3 buckets.

AWS S3 Cross-Region ReplicationQ13. What can I do with Amazon Macie?
Ans.
You can use Amazon Macie to protect against security threats by continuously monitoring your data and account credentials. Amazon Macie gives you an automated and low-contact approach to discover and classify your business data.

Q14. How durable is Amazon S3?
Ans.
Amazon S3 Standard, S3 Standard–IA, S3 One Zone-IA, S3 Glacier, and S3 Glacier Deep Archive are all designed to provide 99.999999999% durability of objects over a given year. This durability level corresponds to an average annual expected loss of 0.000000001% of objects.

Now let’s analyze Module 5: Designing Computing Environment which includes the following lessons

Q1. What are the benefits of EC2?
Ans. The benefits of EC2 are:

Ans. Tenancy defines how EC2 instances are distributed across physical hardware and affect pricing. There are two tenancy options available:

  • Shared Tenancy
  • Dedicate
    EC2 Hardware Tenancy

Q3. Can a single server have multiple Elastic IPs?
Ans. Each private IPv4 address can be associated with a single Elastic IP address and vice versa. When a secondary private IPv4 address is reassigned to another interface, the secondary private IPv4 address holds its relationship with an Elastic IP address.

Q4. How many elastic IPs can I have?
Ans. Amazon Web Services allows each AWS account to have up to five Elastic IP addresses by default. If you need to reserve more than five Elastic IPs, you must submit a request for more Elastic IPs to Amazon.

Q5. How do EC2 communicate with each other?
Ans. If all the resources are in the same AWS account, you can enable communication between EC2-Classic instances and the instances in the VPC on the other side of the VPC peering connection by making a VPC peering connection between the two VPCs, empowering ClassicLink for one of the VPCs, and linking the EC2-Classic.

Q6. What is the difference between elastic IP and public IP?
Ans. The differences are:
difference between elastic IP and public IPQ7. Does elastic IP change when I restart the instance?
Ans. No, if you reboot the instance, it will keep the same IP addresses. We need a fixed public IP address, that’s why we assign an Elastic IP address to our instance.

Q8. Can I use spot and on-demand instances with an Autoscaling group?
Ans. When you specify the settings as part of the Auto Scaling group, you can demand to launch Spot Instances only after launching a certain number of On-Demand Instances and afterward continue to launch some combination of On-Demand Instances and Spot Instances as the group scales.

Q9. Difference between Throughout and IOPS?
Ans. IOPS measures the number of reads and writes operations per second, while throughput measures the number of bits reads or written per second.

Q10. Where Are EBS Snapshots Stored?
Ans. EBS snapshots are stored in Amazon S3. But, you are not going to find your snapshots in any of your S3 buckets. AWS utilizes the S3 infrastructure to store your EBS snapshots. However, you cannot access them while they reside in S3.

EBS Snapshots
Q11. Do you get charged when you create a snapshot?

Ans. When you create a snapshot, you may incur charges for transferring the data to S3, and thereafter, pay for progress storage of the snapshot. The incremental backups-the first time you save an EBS snapshot, a full copy of the data is transferred to S3.

Q12. What is an Amazon EFS Access Point?
Ans.
Amazon EFS Access Points simplify providing applications access to shared data sets in an Amazon EFS file system. It works together with AWS IAM and executes an operating system user and group, and a directory for every file system request made through the access point. You can create numerous access points per file system and use them to provide access to specific applications.

Q13. What is the difference between scalability and elasticity?
Ans. The differences are as follows:- difference between scalability and elasticity

Q14. Can we switch from EBS to EFS?
Ans. The fastest way to achieve this is to mount that EFS file system to your EC2 instance with EBS and then transfer the data from your EBS to EFS. EFS is helpful for sharing data between multiple EC2 instances, yet you would in any case need to utilize EBS for the root drive (boot volume) of your instance.
